The Negev Development and Employment Center is responsible for treating and coordinating economic development, investment and employment in the Negev region, through full cooperation with different professional departments in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor and the various governmental authorities.
In accordance with the government's decision (no. 4415 as of November 20, 2005) to create a strategic program for the development of the Negev, the government formulated a national plan for investment and development of the Negev with a total price tag of 17 billion NIS over ten years. In a purpose to promote the actualization of the program's objectives, the Negev Development and Employment Center was established within the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor (Hereinafter: "The Center").
The functions of the Center are to coordinating the treatment of economic, investment and employment development in the Negev region.
At the same time, the center's primary function is the initiation of innovative projects and programs for attracting investments, the development of employment sources and the promotion of large and small businesses throughout the Negev.
