The Administration for Development Areas is responsible for creating sources of employment in communities located on the periphery. Their main areas of activity include:
1. |
Developing infrastructure for industrial parks and marketing them to entrepreneurs.
2. |
Focusing on specific development areas.
Infrastructure development brings the periphery closer to the center.
Industrial Parks
Modern industrial parks provide an attractive and competitive work environment. Readily available lots and the exemption from the need to tender, both work to the advantage of the periphery in attracting entrepreneurs.
Government policy calls for the development of industrial parks in areas shared by several neighboring local authorities in order to utilize budget and land resources more efficiently.
In keeping with this policy, Industrial Park Administrations have been established which work in cooperation with the local authorities. These Administrations constitute an innovative management tool aimed at advancing industrial parks and the factories operating in them.
These Administrations provide the local authorities with an economic vehicle for developing an economic infrastructure and exploiting business opportunities. This contributes to both economic growth and the creation of employment.

Focus of Efforts ("Promotion 99" and "Promotion 2003")
This new complementary assistance program is an alternative to the large grants, which have been granted in the past according to the Law for the Encouragement of Capital Investments.
"Promotion 99" was the initial program which
targeted 21 small towns. Within this
framework infrastructure projects were undertaken in the following fields:
1.
Improvement in the level of services and economic
development.
2.
Development of commerce and tourism.
3.
Answering the needs of the community.
4.
Improvement of human capital.
"Promotion 2003," the continuation of
"Promotion 99," is currently underway; its
sphere of operation will be extended to additional towns with a special focus
on
employment-generating infrastructure.
